Life plus fifteen years is not a standard robbery sentence. It reflects a specific judicial signal: cryptocurrency is now officially recognized as valuable property, and crimes against it will be treated as violent, serious felonies. The state is telling the world that it can and will pursue crypto theft across the physical and on-chain divide. That is a protective signal for holders. But it is also a clue for defenders, because it means the physical plane is now a legitimate battlefield. The target just moves from a bedroom drawer to a corporate vault. And moving the target is not the same as shrinking it. Physical security reviews should be as mandatory as code reviews for anyone holding a meaningful amount. The harder point is about deterrence. Life in prison sounds like justice, but crypto crime still has an enormous detection gap. If the attacker is caught, the punishment is severe.
